In 2012, the federal government passed an Act to update the Privacy laws that have guided our actions in regards to personal information since 2000. This new Act came into effect in March 2014 and significantly changes some of the ways in which your church may need to handle the personal information that you hold.

With this in mind, Baptist Churches SA & NT have created a new version of our Privacy Manual to assist your church in complying with the requirements of the new Act

In providing this guide, we acknowledge that a small business whose annual turnover is less than $3M is not required to comply with the Privacy laws. However, Baptist Churches SA & NT would strongly encourage all churches in our movement to make every effort to meet the standards required by the legislation as expression of being good corporate citizens. This would also provide your members with the confidence that your church is operating appropriately.

Please pass on this manual to the relevant person in your church who manages this task.
