A useful tool and a complete time-thief. A fun distraction and a soul-crushing portal into other people’s lives. A calculator and communicator. It can make you cry from laughter, then brutally destroy you in the space of 30 seconds. It’s your friend and foe.
You know it’s time to set some boundaries. To stop being bullied by the tech in your trousers. The good news is, we’ve invited Natasha Moore and Simon Smart to help you out. They are both esteemed authors and researchers from The Centre for Public Christianity, a media company that offers a Christian perspective on contemporary life.
They are complete pros at connecting Biblical truths with our daily modern struggles. So clearly, we’re over the moon that they will be teaching at ‘How to break up with your phone (but stay friends xx)‘.
You’re invited to join us as they steer us through practical tips on having a healthier relationship with your phone. Plus they’ll share how God fits into all of this, and invites us into a full life with him. Natasha Moore &
Simon Smart
We’re super excited for Natasha Moore and Simon Smart from The Centre for Public Christianity to come and give us practical wisdom and a Christian perspective on our ever-present phone addiction.
More about Natasha
Natasha is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Public Christianity. She has a PhD in English Literature from the University of Cambridge.
Natasha is the author of For the Love of God: How the church is better and worse than you ever imagined (2019) and, most recently, The Pleasures of Pessimism (2020).
She has worked for CPX since 2014 and written on topics that include books, movies, politics, food, domestic violence, Scripture in schools, war, Thanksgiving, and freedom of speech.
More about Simon
Simon is Executive Director of the Centre for Public Christianity. A former English and History teacher, Simon has a Masters in Christian Studies from Regent College, Vancouver.
Simon is the co-presenter and co-writer of the documentary For the Love of God: How the church is better and worse than you ever imagined, and the author of The End of Men? (2024).
His writing has appeared in such places as The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, the ABC, The Australian, and The Guardian.
He also regularly appears on ABC’s The Drum.
He lives on Sydney’s northern beaches and is an inept but enthusiastic surfer.
