On June 11th Port Pirie Baptist Church commissioned Suzanne for God’s service in the Silk Road area. Approximately 100 people gathered to share in the service as one part of Suzanne’s journey came to an end and the next part began.

It has been my privilege to walk with Suzanne as she studied, completed the Baptist Mission Australia preparatory requirements, and sought partners for her journey. The fruit of that effort was obvious at the service. The people who gathered had come from near and far. As close as Laura and Clare, as far as Adelaide, Mt Barker, Hackham, the Barossa Valley and Victor Harbor, whose folk arrived in four carloads.

It was a joy to hear Suzanne speak with enthusiasm and passion about the K people she will be living and working amongst for the next three years. She has taken the time to learn about their ways, both historical and current. She is keen to settle into the village, start learning the language and culture and find ways to help people follow Jesus in their context.

I had the opportunity to speak about Baptist Mission Australia and the ongoing work that is taking place in the Silk Road and around the world. Pastor Pete Bennetts spoke on Suzanne’s favourite verse, Revelation 7:9-10, reflecting on the great day coming when all nations will gather around the heavenly throne to sing continual praise to our God and that we are all called to mission. A lovely fellowship lunch followed.

As Suzanne finds her place in the Silk Road, please continue to uphold her and the team in prayer. Pray for the K people to know Jesus as their Saviour. If you would like to support Suzanne’s work, please contact me or visit the Baptist Mission Australia website.

Blessings,

Lisa
