Rev Dr Steve Bartlett
Director of Ministries, Baptist Churches NSW/ACT


About Steve

Since 2016 Steve has served as Director of Ministries with the NSW & ACT Baptist Association. He is married to Louise and together they have been blessed with three young adult/teenage children – Josh, Jordan and Kiara.

Prior to his current role Steve served the Association as Associate Director – Church Planting. With Louise he planted and lead Bayside Community Church in Sydney for 14 years.  He has a background in investment banking. For 6 years Steve was also on the faculty of Morling College teaching, mentoring and facilitating in the areas of Leadership Development and Church Planting. He has completed doctoral studies in the development and support of pioneering leaders. 

Steve is passionate about the church living out its potential as a key agent in God’s mission in the world. He loves music and the beach and tries to ward off unfitness with lap swimming.


Rev Dr Melinda Cousins
Director of Ministries, Baptist Churches SA & NT


About Melinda

Melinda is a pastor and teacher who serves as Director of Ministries for Baptist Churches SA & NT. She has previously worked as a local church pastor and theological college lecturer, as well as serving the Association in the areas of global mission and in training and accreditation of pastors. Her PhD is in the Psalms and she has written articles on Preaching the Psalms and Walking the Psalms, and a book chapter on the Psalms and the Senses. 

Melinda is passionate God’s word and God’s world, in particular hearing how God has spoken and continue to speak to us and how we practice that in our cultural contexts. She loves to travel, having visited 50 countries, and has taught Old Testament intensives in Bible Colleges in Zambia, China and Indonesia.

About Louise

Louise is a lifelong follower of Jesus. Having been involved in a number of local church leadership roles Louise has spent a lot of time exploring what we can do as individuals, as families and as faith communities to help nurture lifelong faith. Louise currently works for the Baptist Churches in NSW & ACT as the Team Leader for Children and Family Ministries. Would you believe Louise doesn’t drink coffee and despite her love of walking along the beach, finds it to be a rare occurrence. She does love spending time with her husband Steve and their 3 young adult children.

About Lisa

Lisa joined Baptist Mission Australia in February 2022 as the NT/SA State Leader. She loves connecting with Pastors, Churches, Mission Teams and small groups encouraging them to find their places in God’s great mission both in Australia and around the world. Before joining BMA Lisa was Associate Pastor and then, Interim Pastor at Barossa Community Church (Baptist). Lisa lives in the Barossa Valley. She is married and is mum to three awesome young adult children and one gorgeous daughter in law.

Facilitated by Robert Ellis and Glen Thornley, this workshop will be an interactive group discussion around ideas and experiences for resourcing ministry from both within and without the local congregation. Come prepared to share your experience of ideas that worked, and those that didn’t, so together we can grow the wisdom to tell them apart and strengthen the financial base that will assist your ministry in God’s kingdom to thrive.


About Robert

Robert Ellis is the National Relationship Manager for Baptist Financial Services. He works out of the Head Office in Sydney looking after major clients and the team of Relationship managers in each region of the country. He is an Ordained Baptist Minister and came to BFS after years of ministry in local congregations, and a period at the helm of Baptist Care NSW.

About Glen

Glen Thornley is the SA & NT Relationship Manager for Baptist Financial Services. Based in Adelaide he provides front line assitance to all clients in the region. As a graduate of the Bible College of SA he has a heart for mission, and brings experience gained from 30 years in the building industry, 6 years running his own Mortgage Broking company, and decades serving on the Boards of numerous Church, Para-Church and Community organisations.
